Terms of use — review draft

Not legal approval

Last updated July 26, 2026. This draft describes the current repository and default-off pilot boundaries. It has not been approved by legal counsel and is not evidence that a feature, provider, processor, or operating process is available in production.

Current scope

SteadySteps is an adult-managed family communication product. Its intended core is My Voice: a child can choose a small, familiar phrase such as asking for help or space, and a caregiver can respond with a specific acknowledgement they choose.

My Voice is a limited communication tool. It does not replace AAC, evaluation, therapy, individualized communication support, medical or behavioral care, supervision, or emergency help. A waiting or saved message does not prove that a caregiver saw it or will respond.

Product education is not clinical care

Public explanations and any future adult education are general product or family information. SteadySteps does not diagnose, prescribe a treatment plan, determine why a behavior occurred, guarantee an outcome, monitor a child continuously, provide crisis response, or decide custody or household access.

Child-specific clinical services would require a separate service scope, consent, documentation, jurisdiction review, and an appropriately credentialed professional. This website does not promise that such a service or professional is currently available.

Child agency and adult responsibility

An adult manages the family account and chooses what is made available with the child. Use a name or nickname rather than adding medical, diagnosis, school, custody, crisis, or treatment details to ordinary profile or free-text fields. Do not use SteadySteps to pressure a child to communicate, perform, comply, or give up another way of communicating.

If a current feature lets an adult add material, the adult is responsible for having the right to use it and for checking whether it is appropriate for their own family. The current public website does not represent generated media, a public content library, or media search as reviewed child content.

Optional tokens

Optional tokens start off for a new child profile and require an adult to turn them on for that child. My Voice, Help, Space, Not sure, comfort, breaks, Together, and core play do not cost or require tokens. Turning optional tokens off hides the count without turning off communication.

Features that are not part of the current public offer

The source contains historical or unfinished code for community, provider discovery or coaching, clinical services, provider messaging, booking and payments, family or provider video, reviewed videos, Family Ideas, behavior or ABC notes, generated child media, Gallery, stickers, rewards, and media search. Their public gates are off by default, and some have no approved content or production provider. Source code, database rows, or a feature name do not make one of these features available, reviewed, or appropriate for a child.

SteadySteps also does not currently provide a reviewed two-caregiver or two-household family space. Do not rely on the current account model for custody decisions or cross-household sharing. Any future pilot needs its own visible scope, consent, pricing, cancellation, privacy, safety, and support terms before a family uses it.

Acceptable use

Do not harass another person, impersonate a caregiver or professional, expose another family's information, submit harmful or unlawful material, interfere with account or device safeguards, or claim that SteadySteps provides emergency monitoring or professional care when it does not. Account enforcement and appeal procedures still require operational and legal review before launch.

Privacy and family-data requests

The Privacy review draft describes current data categories, default-off capabilities, and unresolved retention, deletion, export, and processor work. An email or in-app control can start an access, correction, deletion, or export request; it does not confirm receipt, identity verification, fulfillment, deletion, or an available export.

Support and urgent situations

Use the Support page to choose an account, privacy-request, accessibility, or content-report path before drafting an email. Email is not emergency or clinical crisis support, is not continuously monitored, and has no promised response or completion time.

Do not email a child's diagnosis, photo, video, audio, My Voice or Help message, routine, behavior, custody, location, or event details. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes, authentication tokens, payment details, or meeting links.

Review still required

These terms must be reviewed against the final operating company, supported jurisdictions, production configuration, age and adult-role model, vendors, App Store behavior, and support procedures. Legal, privacy, autistic-advisory, SLP/AAC, BCBA-scope, accessibility, and production-route review remain open.
